Blount Memorial Hospital’s Auxiliary has awarded eight scholarships to Blount County students in May as part of its scholarship program. The Auxiliary raises money throughout the year with various fundraisers to make the scholarships possible.
This year, the Auxiliary members handed out five $2,000 scholarships to the children of Blount Memorial Hospital employees. Each student is studying to enter the health care field. The recipients are Mark Romero, son of Katherine Romero, surgery; Jade Mouron, daughter of Tamela Mouron, radiology; Chelsea Lamon, daughter of Karen Lamon, case management; Emma Best, daughter of Koki Best, Breast Health Center; Chelsi Cardoso, daughter of Kimberly Cardoso, Emotional Health & Recovery Center.
The Auxiliary also awarded three $1,000 scholarships to Blount County students in health science. This year’s recipients are Kristin Amburn of Maryville High School, Leah Cunningham of Heritage High School and Tyler Hughes of William Blount High School.
