Alcoa Duck Pond hosts Fishing Derby for Kids

Autumn Shields, winner of Overall Event Biggest Fish, Overall Event Most Fish (by weight), Biggest Fish for ages 8 - 10, and Most Fish for ages 8 - 10, displays her trophies

More than 250 participants took part in this year’s 17th annual Duck Pond Fishing Derby for Kids, held at the Alcoa Duck Pond on Saturday, June 6.

Awards were given for the Overall Event Biggest Fish and the Overall Event Most Fish (up to 10 fish and by weight), as well as for winners in each age group. Major sponsors of the event included Parks & Recreation, Walmart, TWRA, the National Wild Turkey Federation - Little T Longbeards Chapter, Louisville Marine and Bait Company, and Appalachian Dental.

Master fisherwoman Autumn Shields dominated the competition, taking home four trophies for Overall Event Biggest Fish, Overall Event Most Fish (by weight), Biggest Fish for ages 8 - 10, and Most Fish for ages 8 - 10. Award winners were as follows:

Overall Event Biggest Fish: Autumn Shields, 6.33 lbs

Overall Event Most Fish (by number and total weight): Autumn Shields, 9.75 lbs
