Carpenters Middle School students recently showed off their artistic talent during a Related Arts Showcase at the school.
On Dec. 4, the CMS student band performed for parents, students and guests, who were encouraged to browse the school’s book fair. A number of the school’s departments opened their doors to the visitors. Among the participating departments were Art, Teen Living, Foundations of Technology, Computer Technology, the reading lab, the library, and the Physical Education department.
Exemplary student work was displayed in each area, and, in many cases, students held demonstrations of skills they had learned. Each exhibit was designed to emphasize the integral role of the Related Arts in the development of literacy skills and to demonstrate the capacity of CMS to utilize that relationship.
Toward the end of the evening, guests were treated to the Choral Department’s Christmas Concert. Carpenters Middle School opened in 2001 and is comprised of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students from the Lanier, Montvale and Fairview communities. CMS is located at 920 Huffstetler Road off of US-129.
