Blount Health Director joins Governor’s Council for Suicide Prevention

Blount County Health Director Micky Roberts was sworn in on Dec. 18 by Blount County Mayor Jerry Cunningham to join the Governor’s Council for Suicide Prevention. The ceremony took place during the December County Commission meeting at the Courthouse. The council works with a number of state and local groups to prevent suicides in the area. Statistics from 2008 demonstrate that Blount County has more than twice the number of suicides expected for a county of its size.
