Jake Jones has been named the principal of the new Prospect Elementary School slated to be built off Burnett Station Road inthe Porter area.
Director of Blount County Schools Alvin Hord made the announcement. “Mr. Jones’ high morals and passion for young people will be an asset to Prospect Elementary,” Hord said. “We know that Mr. Jones will work hard to build a strong learning environment.”
Jones graduated from South Doyle High School in 1992. Following high school, Jones received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Tennessee in the College of Education in Elementary Education. Additionally, he received his master’s from UT in curriculum and instruction and his EdS from Lincoln Memorial University in administration supervision.
Jones began his career with Blount County Schools in 1998 as a teacher at Porter Elementary School, which was a K-8 school at that time. While at Porter Elementary he taught various subjects in grades 6-8. He remained at Porter Elementary School until the opening of Heritage Middle School in 2000 where he transferred to be a seventh grade math teacher. In 2006, Jones became the assistant principal at Porter Elementary and will remain there until the opening of Prospect Elementary.
Jones is married to Christina Jenkins Jones. They have two daughters with one of the girls attending Porter Elementary.
