Valentines weekend was a time of fun, romance and entertainment in Blount County as area merchants sponsored Townsend Love Affair Weekend.
The event was designed for those looking for a special escape on Valentines Day. The Love Affair Weekend offered couples the chance to experience the area’s rich heritage while treating one another to a weekend of adventure, relaxation and romance.
Visitors enjoyed sightseeing, hiking, dining, dancing, art, pampering, lectures and discussion on heritage, yoga classes, music, crafting and more.
On Feb. 13, guests went to The Barn Event Center of the Smokies to enjoy a dinner of rosemary chicken, pork loin roast, potatoes, vegetables and cobbler. Afterward, they celebrated Townsend Love Affair Weekend with swing dancing featuring The Leanliners.
Classes filled the days at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center, including a class in how to make candy apples. Folks dropped by from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and learned how to dip, caramelize and decorate the apples for a sweet treat. After savoring delicious candy apples, guests could spend the afternoon hiking, listening to lectures, exploring Townsend or checking out other area attractions and demonstrations.
That evening, folks gathered for a special Valentine’s Concert at Miss Lily’s Banquet Hall beginning at 8 p.m. and featuring the Naughty Knots.
