Music and dancing were the order of the night as the Capitol Theater kicked off the Monday Rocks at the Capitol series of family-friendly dance nights.
The weekly series kicked off with the band Boys Night Out. “They grooved for three hours of rock and roll and soul,” said Capitol Theatre owner Heath Claiborne. “We had people out on the dance floor, and we had a good time. Boys Night Out was really pleased with the venue. They said it was the nicest they’ve played, and they’re looking forward to coming back.”
Claiborne said the crowd wasn’t as big as he would like, but he’s confident it will grow. “There was probably 60 people here. It was the first one, and I think it will snowball,” Claiborne said. “I’m hoping once families find out about it, it will build up. People are shocked when they see what a nice venue it is.”
For the Monday, Feb. 16, show Soul Connection will perform. The concerts are on Mondays from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.bookthecapitol.com and are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
