Special Olympians attend games in Ober Gatlinburg

A delegation of three athletes and two coaches recently attended the Tennessee Special Olympics State Winter Games in Ober Gatlinburg on Jan. 25-28.

Area 15 Special Olympians returned from Gatlinburg on Wednesday morning after having a great time on the slopes.

Maryville High School, with coaches Kim Anderson and Sandra Elder, represented Area 15. The athletes who attended were Brad Davis, Jacob Meadows and Tommy Johnson. The events they each competed in were Giant Slalom, Slalom, Glide and the 10M Race. The athletes won three gold, two bronze and one silver. Brad Davis took gold in the giant slalom and gold in the slalom. Jacob Meadows won gold in the giant slalom and bronze in the slalom. Tommy Johnson was awarded silver in the glide and bronze in the 10 M race.
