Blount County School students will have another day to play in the snow on Tuesday.
As of 6 p.m., Blount County Schools director Alvin Hord had canceled classes for Tuesday because of inclement weather. The directors of the city schools were waiting and watching, intending to make their decisions later.
Hord said meteorologists were predicting 23- and 24-degree temperatures for Tuesday morning. “The roads are still wet in places, and they’re predicting more snow for tomorrow so we’re not going to chance it,” he said.
Alcoa City Schools director Tom Shamblin and Maryville City Schools director Stephanie Thompson made the decision to also close Alcoa City and Maryville City schools. More snow is in the forecast for Tuesday with conditions improving toward the end of the week.
