Christmas parades bring out the kid in most everyone. Whether it is the sound of a marching band, the sight of a community’s football team on a float or just seeing Santa Claus, a holiday parade is treat in large part because it draws people together.
The Rockford Christmas Parade did just that recently when it drew a crowd for the annual event that kicks off the holiday season for the town.
The event was on Saturday, Dec. 12, and started with participants lining up at Littlebrook Industrial Park. The parade route went from Singleton Station Road to Williams Mill Road, to Old Knoxville Highway and then over to Little River Road where it ended at the City Park.
At parade’s end, the Heritage High School band entertained the crowd with a concert. Hot chocolate and donuts were served.
Planners said the event has grown over the last nine years and continues to improve each year.
