Golfers turned out to support the Blount County Children’s Home during a fundraising tournament on Oct. 17 at Lambert Acres.
While inclement weather threatened before the event began and temperatures dropped, the rain stopped shortly before tee off.
The Men’s Ministry from Central Point Baptist Church on Martin Mill Pike in Rockford, organized the event to benefit the Blount County Children’s Home. The organizers say they hope to make the benefit tournament an annual event.
Rod Jackson, director of the Blount County Children’s Home, was on hand to receive the proceeds from the tournament on behalf of the Children’s Home. Organizers, including Tony Murrell; the Rev. Chris Cupp, pastor of Central Point Baptist Church; Bill Cupp and Gary Payne, all agreed the turn-out was more than expected, as were the donations. Everyone had a great time, and a tournament is already being planned for May 2010.
The organizers thanked Mayfields Dairy, American Patriot Bank, TnBank, Zaxby’s, Chick-Fil-A, TGI Fridays, Matlock Tire and Service, Murrell Tire, Seymour Septic and BRC Construction for prize donations.
