Rocky Patel visits cigar tasting at Smokin’ Joes

Anyone in Alcoa on July 21 who smelled smoke near Hamilton Crossing shopping center was probably picking up the scent of the Rocky Patel Cigar Tasting at Smokin’ Joes.

The gathering was hosted by Smoking Joes and Green Meadow Wine and Spirits and featured cigars from the Rocky Patel Cigar Company and Mojitos made with Seagram’s Brazilian Rum.

Rocky Patel, owner of The Rocky Patel Cigar Company, was on hand to sign autographs, shake hands and have photos made with fans of the cigar brand.

“I like to get out and personally thank the people who do business with and support The Rocky Patel Cigar Company. It’s part of a tour that will take me to Nashville tomorrow and continue through out the year,” Patel said.

Patel stayed from 4 until after 7 p.m. talking with customers about the various cigars and taste of each make. Each guest was given an ITC 10th Anniversary Series cigar to enjoy with Patel as well as a mojito made by Eric Harrell of Green Meadow Wine and Spirits.

“This was really a good time today,” said Harrell. “People were really excited to be able to meet Patel himself. There are not a lot of guys like him who get out and greet so many people personally. It speaks well of himself and his company. It’s a grass-roots movement that has helped his company to continue to flourish.”
