Local framer named finalist in international competition

Keith Elrod, CPF, owner of K & M Gallery in Maryville, has been named a finalist in the 2008-2009 International Picture Framing Competition. The event was sponsored by the Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA) and marks the third consecutive year that Elrod has achieved this prestigious honor.

The nearly yearly-long competition begins with local and regional competitions from around the world and concludes with the top winners from those events named as international finalists. These projects are displayed at the annual convention of the PPFA, which was recently held in Las Vegas, NV. All framers who entered the competition were required to frame reproductions of the same object. The projects are judged on a number of different criteria, including visual design, preservation techniques and craftsmanship. This year that object was a replica of a Victorian necklace.

Elrod is one of only a few Certified Picture Framers in the state of Tennessee. He also serves as Vice-President of the Kentucky/Tennessee Chapter of the PPFA. Elrod’s project is on display at K & M Gallery. To contact the gallery, call 865-977-9441.
