Market’s Ciao Beer Club learns ‘philosophy’ of Duck Rabbit brewery

On March 26, craft beer aficionados gathered at Ciao Deli for a tasting held by the Ciao Deli Beer Club, just several months in existence and already gaining a substantial following.

Of the 30-plus people in attendance, many were already members, and five joined the Beer Club by the end of the evening. The tasting featured beers from the Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery out of North Carolina, founded by a philosophy professor and named for a classic diagram meant to test perspective.

A local representative of the company, Mike Richards, was on hand. Guests were served appetizers before they enjoyed the beers that comprised the tasting selection, namely the Duck Rabbit Milk Stout, Porter, Brown Ale and Amber Ale.

The Ciao Deli Beer Club holds two tastings a month, and members get discounts on beer and cheese as well as the half-price member rate at the tastings. The next tasting scheduled for April 23 is to feature beers from Highland Brewing Company.

Registration for the next event already exceeds the last tasting, said Ciao Deli owner Todd White, who is expecting the event to be a sell-out.

Admission to the tastings is $20 for non-members and $10 for members. For more information, call 865-379-5266. Ciao Deli is located at 606 High St. in Maryville.
