Foothills Community Players performed the third production of their inaugural season recently when they performed the George S. Kaufman, Moss Hart play “You Can’t Take It with You.”
The play is the story of the Sycamores and the Kirbys, two families drawn together when Tony Kirby falls in love with Alice Sycamore. At first, the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before you realize that if they are mad, then the rest of the world is madder. In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirbys.
The players performed during shows nightly March 26-29 at the Capitol Theater. On Friday of that run, the production became part of Last Friday Art Walk. The show was directed by Daniel Barrett and was produced in special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.
The final production of the season for the Players will be June 4-7 when they perform “Same Time Next Year,” a romantic comedy by Bernard Slade.
The Foothills Community Players is an all-volunteer community theater in Blount County. Information about the group can be found at www.foothillscommunityplayers.com. For additional information about the Foothills Community Players, call 865-712-6428.
