Senior Judge Jon Kerry Blackwood has been named by the Chief Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court to handle any cases involving the Maryville law firm of Meares and Associates.
The order filed Sept. 22 and was signed by Chief Justice Janice M. Holder. It states that pursuant to the Sept. 16 order of recusal signed by Blount County Circuit Court Judges Dale Young and David Duggan and Chancellor Telford Forgety, and in the interest of the efficient and orderly administration of justice, Holder designates Blackwood to preside in any such cases involving Meares and Associates.
Blount Today eroniously reported that former Circuit Court Judge Mike Meares was a partner in the firm with his sister Martha Meares. Mike Meares is not a partner in the firm and doesn’t practice law with his sister, Blount Today regrets the error.
