Dixie Iron Riders to lead ‘Hawg’ ride for ARFNets

The Dixie Iron Riders are going to the dogs.

On Sept. 27, the Dixie Iron Riders will be leading the Hawgs4Dawgs benefit ride for the Animal Rescue and Fostering Networks.

Registration is from 9 to 10 a.m. at Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson and Buell on West Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville. The ride is from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is $20 per person and includes a T-shirt and lunch.

ARFNets director of fundraising Shelby Deck said this is ARFNets largest fundraiser of the year. “It more than tripled in size last year, and we’re hoping for the same this year,” she said.

There also will be a silent auction and for those who don’t own a motorcycle there will be a “Strut your Mutt” contest for prizes. “We’ll also have adoptable dogs on site,” she said. “It’s not just a bike event, it’s a community event.”
