United Way of Blount County hosts focus groups to address local issues

United Way of Blount County invites local experts, stakeholders, and concerned citizens to establish measurable goals for Blount County in the areas of education, self-sufficiency and health.

Each focus area will have one meeting per month in September, October, and November - for a total of nine meetings - to examine what Blount County is doing and where Blount County wants to be five years from now to address self-sufficiency, education, and health.

Participants should try to attend all three work sessions for their chosen area as each month's meeting will build on previous meeting discussions. Current information and statistics are very welcome to avoid duplicating any other initiatives.

Many groups are looking at these same issues and can benefit having measurable outcomes that can be achieved for the whole community.

September 16 will focus on self-sufficiency. Health will the topic on September 17. The focus group will discuss education on September 18. September sessions will be held at Maryville Church of Christ, 611 Sherwood Drive.

Following session locations will be determined by the group for convenience, and the sessions are set for October 14 - 16 and November 11 - 13.
