Blount County Humane Society to hold pet fair

The second annual “Smoky Mountain Pet Fair,” a fund raiser for the Blount County Humane Society will be from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 21, at Pearson Springs Park.There will be “Animalympics” with many games and competitions for pets where they can win medals and prizes! There will also be a large children’s area with bouncy inflatables , exotic birds, games, and an Army Humvee. The Fair also will feature face painting, pet photography, many rescue groups with adoptable animals, live music, belly dancers, pet therapy programs, wildlife rehabilitation and exotic animal exhibits. Food and drinks will be served up by Silver Spoon The American Cafe and Smoky Mountain Kettle Korn all day. The Blount County Humane Society booth will have desserts as well as a Micro Chipping service, Animal Cruelty Investigation Info, and will sell event T Shirts.

Shop with many vendors and enjoy the many special features such as the Maryville Fire Department’s “Sparky the Fire Dog”, the Police Department’s K9 Unit, and the Blessing of the Animals. There will also be some celebrities in themidst: “MoDizzle” who won the title “Tennessee’s Ugliest Dog” and also “Panda” the St Bernard and poster dog against animal cruelty.

A Silent Auction will take place all day, with a special LIVE Auction at 3:45 p.m., featuring autographed UT memorabilia: an official UT football signed by Phil Fulmer, a Lady Vols’ basketball signed by Pat Summitt, and a UT Smokey plush dog signed by Bruce Pearl.

Admission is free but donations will be gratefully accepted. Proceeds will benefit the Blount County Humane Society’s NO KILL Shelter Effort.
