A new gallery will have its grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 6, and will celebrate with art lovers and animal lovers alike.
The Pistol Creek Gallery, located at 117 E. Broadway, will hold a Grand Opening and benefit from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6. Gallery director is Heather Whiteside.
For the grand opening, Whiteside is donating 20 percent of all sales during the show to the Blount County Humane Society.
Attendance is free to the public. The gallery features paintings, art photography, hand-crafted jewelry and art pottery by local and national artists.
Live Jazz will be performed by the BBC Trio. Attendees can also enjoy food, wine and an opportunity to win prizes in the art raffle.
Guests of honor include canine friends Leonardo de Dog and his muse Venus, who will be seeking new homes.
Featured artist will be Cindy Day, who specializes in animal portraiture.
The gallery will represent fine art painters, photographers, sculptors and jewelry artisans. Whiteside is also a painter and fine art sales professional.
On her website, www.pistolcreekgallery.com, Whitehead said the concept of Pistol Creek Gallery came to fruition after she recognized the need for professional, fair and respectful representation of artists in the area. She has more than 20 years of fine art sales experience, owned and operated a full-service fine art gallery in Atlanta, where she represented more than 25 national artists. Additionally, she was recognized as one of America’s “Emerging Artists” in Art Business News Magazine (May 2008).
