The League of Women Voters of Blount County recently learned they are the first league in 20 years that has organized and been approved in the state of Tennessee.
The League of Women Voters of Blount County (LWVBC) will hold a celebration of their newly acquired status as an official local League 7 p.m. on Sept. 8, in the Proffitt Dining Room in Pearsons Hall at Maryville College.
This summer the League of Women Voters of Tennessee and the League of Women Voters of the United States voted to accept the Blount County chapter as a fully functioning League. Judy Poulson, the president of League of Women Voters of Tennessee will present the Blount County chapter with a certificate of its official status. The public is invited to attend.
