Townsend Library to hold book sale and bake sale

The Mary E. Tippitt Memorial Library in Townsend will hold a used book sale and a bake sale at the library on Friday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the library.

November’s After-School Programs are: Wednesday, Nov. 12 - Pioneer Lady “Miss Pam” will be making butter; Wednesday, Nov. 19 - Roy and Susie Ferguson with their service dog Schatzie. Call the library at 865-448-1441 to pre-register your child. Children under 5 should be accompanied by an adult.

The week of November 24 will be Fine Forgiveness Week. During that week the library will be collecting food donations for the bears at Appalachian Bear Rescue in Townsend. Any patrons with outstanding fines who bring in a food donation for the bears will have their fines forgiven. Everyone is welcome to make a donation of food for the bears during that week.

The Townsend Book Club meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 10 a.m. in the library. The books for the next two months are: November 20 - “The Wayward Muse” by Elizabeth Hickey; and December 18 - “The Christmas Pearl” by Dorothea Benton Frank. The Mary Tippitt Library is located at 120 Tiger Drive in Townsend. Hours are Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Wednesday from noon - 6 p.m., and Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. There is a drop box by the front door for after-hours returns.
