Blount Memorial Hospital offers free flu shots

Community members are invited to participate in a free flu shot event on Saturday, Nov. 1 in the Blount Memorial Hospital auditorium.

Flu shots will be administered to adults ages 18 and older from 9 a.m. - noon, or until all available vaccines have been distributed.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises the following groups be immunized: people ages 50 or older, nursing home residents, pregnant women, and adults with chronic diseases of the heart, lung and kidneys, or who have diabetes, immunosuppression or severe forms of anemia.

While there is no charge for the immunizations, donations to benefit the Blount Memorial Foundation and Community Outreach, which provides assistance to the uninsured and medically underserved, will be accepted.
