Dandridge man charged with soliciting a minor

A 39-year-old Dandridge man was in custody Oct. 18 at the Blount County Adult Detention Facility on charges of solicitation of a minor and soliciting sex from a minor by electronic means.

Joseph Wayne Cupp, 39, of Dandridge, is being held at the Blount County Adult Detention Facility on bonds totaling $100,000 pending hearings in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. October 24.

For the past two weeks, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office HEAT (High Tech Evidence and Technology) Unit, in conjunction with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), conducted an on-line investigation on Cupp. The investigation culminated when deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office took Cupp into custody at his place of business Friday night. He was then transported to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office where he is currently detained.
