The Foothills Fall Festival weekend has influenced the planning of local events to coincide with the same weekend. This will be the 6th year Alcoa Alumni have celebrated their homecoming in conjunction with the Festival.
Events will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10, at the Hampton Inn (Airport) where alumni and friends will share old stories, tell tall tales, and perhaps sing and jam some of those old musical favorites. The best stories may come from the golfers who will play earlier at Pine Lakes Golf Course.
Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m., alumni and friends will gather at the Springbrook School Gymnasium, 1537 Dalton St., Alcoa, to share old photos and memorabilia. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own nostalgic treasures. Lunch is scheduled for noon. Those attending are asked to bring their favorite dish or finger food to share. Drinks, plates and ice will be provided, and donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of facility rental and other expenses.
Celebrating their 50th Class Reunion, the Alcoa Class of 1958 will meet for dinner at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Airport Hilton. 1958 classmates from California, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Georgia are expected. Other alumni coming for the weekend are from Alabama, Virginia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Anyone who attended or taught at an Alcoa school is urged to attend. Over the years, dividing lines between schools and communities have merged and intermingled, so if you graduated from one of those “other” schools and have AHS ties, you’re certainly welcome to join the festivities.
