Maryville Dancers featured on WBIR-TV “Style” Show

Dream Street Infusion Dancers were featured on the Style show on July 23. Reporter April Lamb notified Robin Devereaux, Owner/Instructor after seeing an article published in “The Daily Times” honoring this years Crystal Award finalists. Devereaux was nominated by her students for the prestigious award which is presented by The American Association of University Women. The award honors an individual whose life or work has created opportunities for the women or girls of Blount County to achieve their greatest potential.

Devereaux formed Dream Street Infusion and a private studio, after her daughter Korie was diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome. A condition inwhich the pancreas’ respond to carbohydrates by over producing Insulin. The condition can result in diabetes, heart disease and other related issues if not controlled. Aerobic activity and a diabetic diet are keys to controlling the syndrome. Korie who is a freshman at Maryville High dances 3 days a week at Dream Street and teaches “Flex & Stretch” techniques to the students. Korie also dances 3 days a week at Van Meter School of Dance.

Dream Street is available for Youths with conditions like Metabolic syndrome, childhood obesity, diabetes, asthma and low- self esteem. Robin wanted to place where anyone could dance and feel comfortable regardless of their issues. Robin is a Certified Emergency Medical Tech with special rescue training in addition to history of dancing including, Ballet, Jazz, Hip-hop and clogging. In 1996, she was crowned Ms. Tennessee United Nation, Ms. Tennessee Royal Parent

Circumstances involving Dream Street and what it represents has lead, Korie to become friends with The Jonas Brothers. “They instant message or email almost on a daily basis and it has allowed Korie to see the Brothers are more than pop stars, “ said Devereaux. They { Jonas Brothers} have extremely HUGE hearts. I’m now known as “Mom 2” and Korie is “Sis”.

Due to the respect for their “famous extended family” they refuse to disclose the circumstances of their fortune. Many girls beg us for their personal information on contacting the brothers...but, we refuse to compromise their privacy.

Dream Street dancers is currently working on filming their routine to ‘Year 3000’ by The Jonas Brothers, and will be sending it to them ( Jonas Brothers) per their request. The girls are simply thrilled to know they will be watching them dance. Korie hosted a “Camp Rock” party, the night of it’s premier. Joe Jonas had planned on calling the girls to say “Hello” as a special surprise. However, the brothers were in Germany on Tour that weekend. Joe had Miley Cyrus to call the party goers for him.

Dream Street is currently accepting new students with the desire to dance. I am also, looking for experienced dancers for a competitive team. Last year Korie Devereaux and Emily Burgess competed at a National Competition, placing High score 2nd place, which was amazing for their first experience.

Anyone interested can contact Robin Devereaux at 865-681-2321.
