Arts.Alive breathes new life into former gallery

The lower level of Dandy Lions in the former Red Cross building didn’t go without a tenant very long when Fine Arts Blount moved to a larger space on Broadway. FAB member Lyda Plemons opened her own art gallery and school within weeks of the space being vacated.

On Nov. 14 Arts.Alive celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting at the gallery on Church Avenue.

Plemons opened the facility with plans for both a gallery and classes for children, teens and adults. The business is at 302 Church Ave.

Plemons said the goal for the gallery is simple, “We wanted to create an environment to use our talents to enrich our children and individuals in the community in a friendly, relaxed setting, enjoying art as it was meant to be enjoyed,” she said.
