SKIT brings lights of Broadway to Ellis Avenue

Southern Kids in Theater recently performed their tribute to Broadway with the musical “On Broadway” at the SKIT theater on Ellis Avenue in Maryville.

The first act featured a surprise musical theater project that included scenes from “The Wizard of Oz,” and Act II continued with musical numbers ranging from Tin Pan Alley to state-of-the-art contemporary numbers.

Up next for SKIT is a holiday production of the musical “A Christmas Carol.” This production, with full staging and costumes, will be held at the Clayton Performing Arts Center at Pellissippi State Community College off Hardin Valley Road.

“A Christmas Carol” will have two matinees -- 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and Dec. 7, and an evening performance at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. You can purchase tickets on-line at or by calling the theater at 865-621-0216 or 865-380-4387.
