It was a sing-along, hum-along, tap-your-toes kind of night as the folksy sound of Robinella filled the evening. Yet the second Blue Jeans and Ballet to feature the live music of Robinella had an elegant and regal feel to it as well.
Central casting couldn’t have done any better as the warm twilight kept everything well-lit but soft under the trees at Maryville College. Pre-dance dinner was excellent and many were reluctant to move to the staging area. Once the music began, however, all were entranced by the songs -- many of them familiar oldies -- and the dancers. The professionalism of the performance belied the setting. The choreography and execution couldn’t have been any better had the show been on a Broadway stage.
Next up for Appalachian Ballet is their annual production of The Nutcracker at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium. The ballet dances the show accompanied by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra.
