Office on Aging to distribute the new Senior Directory

The Blount County Office on Aging will distribute free copies of the sixth edition of the Senior Service Directory beginning at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Everett Senior Center, located at 702 Burchfield Street.

Blount County seniors are invited to this event which also will recognize 50 sponsors whose financial support made the printing of the directory possible.

Refreshments will be served.

The Office on Aging published the first edition of the Blount County senior directory with 80 pages of content in 1993 and printed 5,000 copies. The brand-new sixth edition has 212 pages and 20,000 copies are being printed.

Thousands of free copies of the directory are distributed throughout the community each year.

The topics covered in the book are useful to seniors, caregivers, families, and others seeking to serve the senior population. Directories are also provided to churches, clubs, service organizations and others.

After Nov. 13, copies of the directory may be picked up at the Blount County Community Action Agency, 3509 Tuckaleechee Pike, in the old Hubbard School building, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Later in November many of the directory sponsors will have directories to distribute at their businesses.
