Treasure hunt benefit ride for Manna from Heaven Food Pantry will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9 at Big Daddy’s Sports Bar and Grill on U.S. 411. Dixie Iron Riders will lead the ride tabbed as a treasure hunt full of surprises. Riders will be given a route where they will be trying to find as many treasure chests as possible. They will then return them to Big Daddy’s to receive their prizes. Following the ride at 5 p.m., there will be a free band and food and at 6 p.m. there will be a raffle with prizes. All prizes will be valued at between $35 and $75 and raffle tickets will be sold separately. Rider admission is $25 per person. Registration will start at 10:30 a.m. and the ride will begin at 11 a.m.

The final 2008 get-together of the East Tennessee Jazz Society will be held from 4 - 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9, at Swank’s 100 Court Street Jazz Restaurant and Bar located at the corner of Harper and Court Street in Maryville (Swanks is now a totally non-smoking establishment) A very swinging jazz quartet composed of Renato Buchert-Piano; Skip Lane-Saxophone; Cheryl Dow-Bass; Dennis Dow -Drums. The Fairview United Methodist Women will hold their annual pre-Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Fairview United Methodist Church, located at 2508 Old Niles Ferry Road. The country store and dinner will be from 4 - 6:30 p.m. All proceeds go toward the mission projects of the UMW.

America Recycles Day Computer Recycling will be from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15. The event will be held at the Technology Solutions of Tennessee warehouse in the Blount County Industrial Park at 1630 Robert C. Jackson Drive right off Hwy 321 South next to the UPS hub. TSOT, LLC will be collecting computers and their peripherals along with household electronics. Computer and electronic items are accepted for FREE and TVs will be accepted FOR A FEE of $10. No alkaline batteries or household wastes (chemicals) will be accepted.

Blount Lupus Support Group will meet from 2:15 - 3:45 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Blount County Public Library. Program is guest speaker: Dr. Walter Farcas (retired UTK professor of biochemistry) Topic: Stem Cell Research and Lupus. This meeting is open to the public. Manna from Heaven Food Pantry will hold a benefit motorcycle ride to collect toys for the area’s underprivileged children on Nov. 22 at Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Shed portion of the Harley-Davidson dealership on West Lamar Alexander Parkway. Admission is one toy and a bag of candy per rider. Maryville’s Weight Loss Surgery support group -- meets at 10 a.m., the second Saturday of each month, at Pellissippi State College Library in Maryville. The purpose of this group is for those who are considering gastric surgery, Bypass or Band, for weight loss. Questions and answers from people who have gone through the procedure. Find out the good and bad news about this major surgery.

The Joshua Resource Center -- is enrolling participants for the New Beginnings CWJC program. Women who may feel isolated, alone and without hope will find a safe place to refocus, be trained in a variety of life skills, work skills and experience the love of Christ.
