New bicycle map for Blount County available

For anyone who wants to travel via bicycle, a new map which provides information on bicycle travel in Blount County has been released.

In 2007, a Blount County Bicycle Advisory Committee was formed to help develop the map to assist residents and visitors in finding appropriate routes to bicycle for transportation and/or recreation. The roads are classified according to traffic volumes and speeds and the amount of space on the road for bicyclists. What one bicyclist considers a comfortable road may not be comfortable for another bicyclist.

This map enables people to choose routes based on the road conditions they prefer. The map is free and can be picked up at sponsoring locations: Cycology Bicycles, Mountain View Bicycles or the Smoky Mountain Convention and Visitors Bureau in Townsend.
