The American Association of University Women, Maryville Branch will celebrate 65 years of advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research, on Monday, May 19, at 5:30 p.m. in the Proffitt Dining Room on the Maryville College campus.
Installation of officers, games, food, and birthday cake will be part of the program. A “Buffalo Auction” (trash and treasures) will be the highlight of the evening. All proceeds will benefit the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund, which provides funding and support for individuals seeking redress from sexual discrimination.

The Maryville Branch has been recognized at the state convention for its contribution of excellence in promoting women and equity issues.
Several milestones that have been reinforced this year are the Sister-to-Sister Summit and the Crystal Award. The former encourages tweens and teens to be all that they can be and the latter recognizes one that has become and given to the community.
Women’s Equity Foundation is a supporting organization of AAUW Maryville. It is a nonprofit organization that promotes the status of women. Harri Ropp is president.
Outgoing and incoming officers will be recognized at the celebration event. Charlotte Crawford, president,and Rebecca Vial ,vice president of programs will relinquish their positions to Vandy Kemp, president and Nancy Heintz and Marilee Fogelson, co-vice presidents of programs.
Founded in 1881, AAUW is a national organization of 100,000 members and 1,300 branches.
