Lenny’s Subshop owner Sean Norris has a pretty accurate barameter for determining how good his Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches are. He counts the number of former New Jersey and Philadelphia residents who stop in his new restaurant, Lenny’s Sub Shop.
Norris opened the 2,000 square foot franchise restaurant on Hunters Crossing Drive a month and a half ago and has been pleased with the traffic, especially from “transplants” from the North.
“They say we make a good Philly,” he said. “A lot of them are transplants and we see them two or three times a week.”
Norris and his wife Diane moved home to Maryville after working in the corporate world in Memphis. They were looking for a franchise opportunity and had a friend who was happy with a Lenny’s franchise so they decided to invest in a Maryville location.
The original restaurant was started by Lynn Moore in Memphis and had a good reputation there and is building a strong following here for a good reason. “We put a half pound of meat and cheese on each sandwich,” Norris said.
The restaurant is located on Hunters Crossing Drive in Alcoa and is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
