First Tennessee awards $16,500 to local nonprofits
Local nonprofits received checks totaling $16,500 thanks to a grant program that rewards public service by First Tennessee employees.
The First Tennessee Leadership Grants program recognizes employees who have served at least 36 hours working on a nonprofit organization’s board during the year. The organization cannot be one to which First Tennessee remits dues. Employees who serve as board members are eligible for a $500 annual Leadership Grant from First Tennessee Foundation. If the employee serves as an officer or committee chair, the grant can be up to $1,000. The employee is given the privilege of presenting the check to the organization.
Maryville organizations receiving $1,000 contributions and their corresponding board members were Maryville City Schools Foundation - Janine Stinnett and American Red Cross-Blount County Chapter - Greg Wilson.
The Hearing and Speech Foundation of Maryville received a $500 contribution in recognition of service by John Hinkle.
