Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation receives $20,000 donation

The Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation received an anonymous donation in the amount of $20,000 in memory of Isom Lail and in honor of Janet Lail.

Isom and Janet had their own animal rescue operation on the farm where they lived, with animals ranging from dogs and cats to rabbits, donkeys and even rats. Isom Lail was known to the community as the head of South Blount Utilities. His wife, Janet, said that to his friends and family, Isom was a kind-hearted man who, at 6 feet 5 inches tall, had a likability quotient as large as he was.

“This very generous donation puts us one big step closer to our $1.2 million dollar goal,” said Julie Nelson, vice president of Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation. “The Welcome Kiosk at the entrance will be named in memory of Isom Lail and in honor of Janet Lail for their devotion and contributions to the Blount animal community.

“On behalf of SMACF, I would like to extend a warm thanks to these donors who have chosen to honor Isom and Janet in this very meaningful way. Nothing would have made Isom prouder, and there is not a more fitting tribute to such a good man whose dream was an animal shelter for Blount County.”

Additional sponsorship opportunities are available for the new Blount County Animal Center. Visit www.smokymountainanimalcare.org for a complete list.
