‘Simon’ says:

April Foolies judges give meany Cowell run for the money

The Fifth Annual April Foolies is sure to be full of new talent, great music, and fun acts . In addition, some very familiar (and “famous”) faces will be in the judges’ seats as well.

The annual charity event showcases local talent who is not afraid to be a “Fool” for local children in hopes of raising big funds for the United Way’s Success by Six program and the New Hope Children’s Advocacy Center.

Almost as funny and popular as the talent show acts are the annual judges, who do everything in their power to give the honored profession a black eye. The judges spend the evening listening to local bands, watching dance routines, figuring out who is behind the blonde wigs and yawning through monologues as they seek to crown the winnner -- the “Biggest Fool on the Block.”

Mostly the judges take bribes, as the audience puts money in buckets at the front of the stage to “bribe” the judges to choose their favorite act.

The April Foolies judges take their work extremely serious, and beg to come back time and time again.

The line-up of judges for 2008 is:

• Joy “Eagle Eye” Bishop

• Mark “MC Hammer” Cate

• Joe “Simon Cowell” Huff

• Ed “Supreme Fire Chief” Mitchell

• Amy “Judge Judy” Morton

• Doug “Dougley Do Right” Overbey

• Rick “Picky Ricky” Shepard

• Tom “The Hulk” Taylor
