MC singers joins Powell High for ‘Choral Ceilidh’

The Maryville College Concert Choir, its vocal ensemble Off Kilter and the Powell High School Singers will join voices for “A Choral Ceilidh,” scheduled for 8 p.m., March 28, at Lake Hills Presbyterian Church in Knoxville.

Pronounced “kay lay,” a ceilidh literally means “a visit” and is an important event in Gaelic culture. During the event, the Concert Choir, under the direction of Stacey Wilner and assistant Jennifer Olander, will perform musical selections that are being prepared for an upcoming concert tour to Scotland. “A Scotland Medley,” arranged by acclaimed composer Dr. James Laster, an alumnus of the college and professor emeritus of Shenandoah Conservatory, will be the centerpiece of the choir’s performances while on tour.

There is no admission fee, although donations for the upcoming tour are appreciated.
