Golfers fill greens at Tim Bledsoe Memorial Golf tournament

More than 128 golfers signed up to help Alcoa City School Foundation recently when the Tim Bledsoe Memorial Golf Tournament posted a record crowd for the annual event.

The weather was beautiful for the tournament, held at Pine Lakes Golf Course on Saturday, May 31. Organizers announced at that time that, with the help of sponsorships and willing golfers, the tournament was likely to top last year’s total of $18,800. Judge David Duggan served as master of ceremonies as the tournament got underway, with Dr. Jane Qualls at this side. Jane’s husband, banker and community leader Nick McGuire, always played in and supported the tournament with his wife. He died suddenly last year only a few weeks after the tournament.

All the money raised through the tournament goes to Alcoa City School Foundation. The foundation uses the money to help fund needed programs and special initiatives.
