Surrounded by blooms

Garden center entertains school, community

Out of Eden Garden Center had a lot to show off at the business this spring and summer, so they invited the community and area school children before school was out this spring. A Garden Party was planned for April, with refreshments, experts on hand to talk about the coming season and specials for shoppers. Later, the center hosted field trips for area school children, pairing the classes with their gardening personnel to tell the children about plants, soil and how to care for flowers.

Mary Blount Elementary School came for the field trip on what turned out to be a rather chilly day, but one bright with blooms. Youngsters walked through the garden center, stopping at stations along the way to hear Out of Eden employees talk about plants, weather, rocks and flowers.

As a special activity, the children planted seeds in small pots to take home.
