Medic Regional Blood Center is proud to partner with Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson for a special blood drive on Saturday, Aug. 2, from noon – 7 p.m. One lucky donor will win a free one-day rental of a Harley-Davison motorcycle.
“We hope this incentive encourages several donors to come out and give blood,” state Christi Fightmaster, Medic spokesperson. “Summer months are extremely difficult for us and we are please that Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson was nice enough to host a blood drive as well as offer such a nice incentive item.” The random drawing will take place after the blood drive.
Medic will also feature a special “Biker” tee shirt for all donors as well as a coupon for a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich. Donors will also receive a free cholesterol evaluation as well as a credit towards Medic’s Family Blood Coverage Program. This program exempts donors and their IRS dependents from paying blood collection and processing fees at any hospital in the U.S. if a transfusion is needed.
Medic is the sole provider of blood and blood products to 21 counties and 29 area hospitals, including Blount Memorial Hospital. Blood donated to Medic stays in the coverage area to help family members, neighbors, co-workers, etc.
