Jim Melton has been officially endorsed by Tennessee Right to Life in his candidacy for the 20th District state House seat.
State president Brian Harris said that at no time has the election of committed pro-life supporters to the state House been more important. “With the election of Jim Melton, voters can be assured of having their voices and values represented on matters of life and leadership,” Harris said.
Harris said electing pro-life leaders is all the more critical considering recent debate on SJR 127, a proposed amendment resolution calling for a public vote on abortion regulation in Tennessee. The resolution has passed the Senate four times but has been opposed and defeated each time in the House by pro-abortion Democratic leadership despite the sponsorship and support of a majority of state House members, Harris said.
“We are confident that Jim Melton will help to lead the fight to restore common sense balance to Tennessee’s current radical policy of abortion on demand,” Harris said. “We urge every pro-life voter to actively support his election.”
Melton supports both the election of a pro-life House speaker and a vote on SJR 127.
