Golfers turn out to help Cochran foundation
The Fourth Annual Justin Cochran Spinal Cord Injury Foundation Golf Tournament on June 17 at Egwani Farms missed their guest of honor this year, but his spirit was evident as each golfer celebrated Justin’s mission.
Cochran, disabled from the neck down after injuring himself while doing a back flip at a family reunion, couldn’t attend this year because of a medical complication.
Justin, who has family in Blount County, is paralyzed, but friends and family say the young man has not stopped living his life. He skydives, parasails, hikes and helps organize the golf tournament for the foundation that bears his name. The foundation is dedicated to helping educate young people about spinal injury. The golf tournament is one of the 4-year-old foundation’s biggest fund-raisers.
The mission of the foundation is to educate, encourage and inspire those affected by spinal cord injuries by providing information and resources to aid spinal cord injury survivors, their family and caregivers on how to live a healthy and active lifestyle after an injury.
