Mountain Raceway Park and Fairgrounds will be the site of the next Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series Event of 2008. A full slate of local racing, including Powermaster Time Trials, Sunoco Quick Six Dashes and West Haven Speed Equipment B-Mains for Super Late Models, will also be offered.
There have been eight different winners in eight events on the Advance Auto Parts series. Race fans can expect a very competitive field of local and regional drivers on hand, competing for over $15,000 in prize money.
Rick Rogers of Knoxville has been running strong of late, not only on the tour, but at other events as well. The second generation driver holds a 113-point lead in series point standings over second place Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville. Three-time series champ Anthony White of Clinton is the tour’s most recent winner and has just moved into third, relegating Stacy Boles of Claxton and Tommy Kerr of Maryville to fourth and fifth, respectively.
