Maryville defeats Eagleton for district Little League crown

With the Dixie Highway Band providing the national anthem, the Maryville Little League All-Stars defeated Eagleton, 3-2, to win the District 6 tournament championship on Saturday at Maryville. The defending state champion, Maryville rallied from the loser’s bracket en route to the title.

Maryville struck first, scoring a run in the first inning off an RBI by Chris Raymond. Eagleton answered in the third inning to tie. Maryville would score again in the top of the fifth on RBI by Daniel West and Isaac Edmiston, making it a 3-1 game.

In the sixth, Dominique Sowder’s RBI to left brought Eagleton within a run. Maryville’s defense held through the remainder of the sixth to secure the district title. Maryville advances to Pulaski this weekend to defend its state title.
