Children at Broadway United Methodist went back in time recently during their Vacation Bible School.
The Jerusalem Market Place theme afforded participants an opportunity to dress up in period costumes and learn more about what life was like during the time Jesus was on earth.
Co-director Rebecca Brown said between 46 and 51 children attended each night. “It was a lot of fun. The kids were dressed in costume to bring the Jerusalem theme to life. It was really, really cool. The kids enjoyed it,” she said.
Participants ate dinner at 5:30 and attended VBS from 6 to 8 p.m. “They learned authentic sounding music and did neat crafts like weaving, pottery and wood-working. They made bread and ‘kind of ‘ authentic Bible time candy,” she said. “There were cool dramas that played out each night. They sang music that speaks of that era, and then they divided up into age-appropriate classes and had Bible stories and crafts that went along with it.”
