Fire Blue finishes runner-up at regional soccer meet

Maryville’s Morgan McCord fires a shot toward goal for the Fire Blue U95 soccer team at the Region III Division 2 soccer championships recently. Fire Blue, a member of the Knoxville Football Club, placed runner-up at the tournament. Representing Tennessee, Fire Blue defeated the state champions from Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Georgia during its run to the finals. Fire Blue fell, 2-1, to Florida in the championship match. Fire Blue will move to premier level soccer next season and play Division I as an under-14 team.
