The Heritage High School bowling team has a lot to build on for next season.
Two sophomores, Tracy Berna and Breanna Endsley, and a freshman, Endsley’s sister, Brittney, turned in a strong showing at the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association State Bowling Championships in Smyrna on Monday.
Berna placed best amongst the Lady Mountaineer trio, posting a 163.75 scoring average over four games in the quarterfinal round. Berna missed the semifinal cutoff by 12 pins. Breanna Endsley was not far back, closing with a 162 average to finish 31st. Brittney Endsley rolled a 146 average in her state debut, good enough for 52nd in a 67-player field.
Kimberly Hensley of McGavock won the girls individual crown, with Soddy-Daisy’s Hilary Bell second and Hixson’s Allie Chase third. All six players in the final-round pairings were seniors. Hardin County defeated Hendersonville for the girls team championship. Michael Poirier of Columbia Central captured the boys individual title, with Gary Faulkner of Germantown finishing runner up and Travis Howell of Columbia third. Columbia defeated Hendersonville for the boys team championship.
