Ringing in 2008

New year fun helps next year’s Christmas

The year is almost a month old, but we still wanted to bring you these party pictures from the New Year’s Eve Ball at Royal Oaks Dining Room & Bar. It was a gala night, with all the trappings of an elegant, extra-special event -- and what better way to bring in a brand new year!

This New Year’s Eve Ball had a twist. By ringing in 2008 at Royal Oaks, couples gave Santa a head start on Christmas for needy children in Blount County for December 2008. The ball was a fund-raiser for the Junior Service League of Maryville, a group that annually provides Christmas cheer to underprivileged children in Blount County through their annual Toys for Blount County project.

The evening had two tiers, but the full enchilada began at 6 p.m. with cocktails, followed by a scrumptious dinner at 7 p.m. Live music and dancing began at 9 p.m. and lasted until 1 a.m.

Music was by Love, Peace and Happiness out of Chattanooga. Guests also had the option of coming only for the music and dancing at 9.
