Board certified occupational medicine physician Dr. James Wells has joined Blount Memorial Hospital’s staff as the medical director for Blount Memorial Business Health.
Blount Memorial Business Health director Denia Lash said, “Wells will serve as the medical director for all of our business health services, including occupational medicine, our physician offices, on-site clinics, rehabilitation programs, and education and screening programs. Wells also will service clients and patients at the Occupational Health Clinic at Springbrook.”
Wells received his bachelor’s degree with honors in environmental health and his medical degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, graduating with the inaugural class in 1982. He received a master of public health degree in epidemiology from the University of Washington in Seattle in 2000.
He completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and a public health and general preventive medicine residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Wash.
Wells also is certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, public health and general preventive medicine, as well as electrodiagnostic medicine. Prior to joining Blount Memorial, Wells worked as a clinical associate professor at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.
